Regina Dominican Swimmer Sarah Herrmann has been named Athlete of the Week for the week of November 11-16. Sarah was nominated by her coach because of her time drops at the IHSA Sectional and due to her leadership skills. We were able to catch up to Sarah for a quick interview.
BM: Sarah, congratulations on winning the athlete of the week award. What elementary school did you attend?
SH: Thanks, Queen Of All Saints.
BM: How do you mentally prepare for the 50 and 100 free? Is your approach different for each race?
SH: We do a team slap down that gets me in the zone and I usually listen to music before each race.
BM: Would you ever want to swim distance?
SH: Not at the moment because I am a sprinter and that’s how I train. The longest distance race I’ve swam is the 200 but I’d be open to swimming that again.
BM: Can you talk about the dedication it takes to be in the pool everyday?
SH: We typically stretch before and at the end of the season we taper.
BM: Are you involved with any other sports or clubs at Regina Dominican?
SH: yes, I play lacrosse and am on Orchesis dance team.
BM: Ok, some rapid fire questions:
-Best part about practice?- Practicing Relays and seeing my friends
-Favorite team bonding activity?-making swim dances/ singing on the bus
-Favorite sport (other than swimming) – Lacrosse
-Favorite Regina Dominican High School Event – fall fling or dance marathon
