Panthers News · Bowling Team Wins McDonell Award

Today,  Regina Dominican High School announced the winner of the McDonell Award, to the  Regina Dominican Bowling Team.  This marks the 2nd consecutive year that the Bowling team has won the award, which recognizes the team with the highest collective grade point average (GPA). 

“Congratulations to the Bowling team on winning their 2nd consecutive McDonell Award,” Athletic Director Brian Mancuso stated. “ “Both the Bowling team and the Basketball team did outstanding jobs in the classroom during their season, but the Bowling team won the award by a slight margin.  Bowling finished the season with a 3.56 GPA.  Congratulations to Coach Rich, Coach Biegel, and Coach Michalek and the team for all of their hard work.”

“We are thrilled to be receiving the McDonnell Award for the second year in a row.  Our students work extremely hard, not only at the lanes, but also in the classroom,” Coach Ellie Rich stated. “Their hard work and dedication to academics and their teammates is inspiring and we are extremely proud of them.”

The team will have their name etched on a permanent plate outside the gymnasium to commemorate the honor.

The McDonell Award is named in honor of former Regina Dominican Administrator Patricia “Pat” McDonell who retired in June 2019. She believed that academic and athletic excellence should go hand in hand.  Pat was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to everyone in the Regina Dominican community.  This award celebrates her legacy and will be given each sports season – fall, winter and spring to the qualifying team.
